The Impact of Multiculturalism on the Transformation of Values in the Context of a Global Society

Abstract

The purpose of the article is to analyse the impact of multiculturalism on the transformation of social values in the global society. The article examines current trends, challenges and prospects for the development of multicultural interaction. Particular attention is paid to the preservation of local cultural traditions and their adaptation to the global information environment. The research methods included an analysis of scientific papers, statistical data and empirical studies, which allowed us to outline the key aspects of the impact of multiculturalism on social processes. It was found that multiculturalism promotes tolerance and cultural exchange but also poses challenges to the preservation of national identity. The study shows that multiculturalism contributes to the formation of new value orientations in social life, increased tolerance and cultural exchange, but at the same time threatens to erode national identity. For example, youth subcultures are becoming carriers of global cultural models that sometimes contradict traditional norms. Particular attention is paid to the role of education in supporting cultural diversity and fostering intercultural tolerance. It is proposed that intercultural dialogue activities be integrated into educational programmes, as well as courses that promote the development of cultural competence among young people. The mechanisms of adaptation of the values of different cultural groups and their interaction in the context of globalisation are investigated. Globalisation creates both opportunities for enriching cultural experiences and challenges for preserving local traditions. In particular, the media and social networks contribute to the spread of a single information culture, which can have a negative impact on local cultural norms.The conclusions show that multiculturalism is an important factor in social cohesion but requires a comprehensive approach to overcome conflicts and harmonise interaction. The results of the study can be used to develop educational programmes and government policies aimed at preserving cultural diversity.
