Semantic and Pragmatic Aspects of Speech Acts in Scientific Discourse

Abstract

In modern studies of scientific discourse, considerable attention is paid to the semantic and pragmatic aspects of speech acts that determine the processes of creating, transmitting and interpreting meanings in scientific communications. Traditional approaches to discourse analysis focused on linguistic structures are not always able to fully explain the complexity of communication processes, especially in the context of scientific texts. This creates the need to integrate semantic, pragmatic and cognitive aspects, which allows for a comprehensive and flexible analysis of scientific discourse.

The aim of the study is to analyse the discourse analysis methodology that combines semantic, pragmatic and cognitive aspects for a deeper understanding of scientific communication. Based on the models of semantic argumentative possibilities and proximity theory, which take into account social, political and contextual factors, the study examines how meanings in discourse change according to the pragmatic intentions of the speaker and the social needs of the recipients.

The research methods include the analysis of related literature on lexical and metrical means and semantic and axiological strategies used to form identities and social realities in scientific discourse. The analysis of speech acts is used to identify the mechanisms of meaning shifting and their impact on intercultural dialogue and social integration.

The main results of the study confirm the importance of the spatio-temporal and axiological approach for understanding changes in scientific discourse. It allows us not only to reveal the mechanisms of meaning formation in speech acts, but also to understand how these meanings interact with social, political and cognitive contexts.

The findings of the study point to the need to develop new methodologies that integrate different scientific approaches to analyse scientific discourse. Such an approach provides a more accurate understanding of the processes of knowledge transfer in scientific communities, in particular in the context of globalisation and interdisciplinary communications.
