Abstract

The conditions of the globalized world simultaneously contribute to two interrelated processes: the universalization of gastronomic practices and the reactualization of local culinary traditions. The McDonald’s phenomenon acquires special philosophical significance in modern society, which should be considered not only as a specific model of nutrition, but as a symptom of broader sociocultural transformations. Objective. The aim of the article is a philosophical and culturological analysis of gastronomy as an interdisciplinary sociocultural phenomenon in the context of globalization and everyday life, as well as identifying the specifics of the McDonald’s phenomenon as a model of technological production and food consumption, which represents the processes of rationalization, standardization and simulation in modern culture. Methods. The research methodology is based on the use of philosophical analysis, sociocultural analysis, hermeneutic method, phenomenological approach, critical discourse analysis. Conclusions. Theoretical and methodological approaches to understanding gastronomy in modern philosophical, cultural and sociological discourse are analyzed. The specificity of gastronomy as a form of symbolic production of cultural meanings, social practices and identities in the context of everyday life is determined. The impact of globalization processes on the transformation of gastronomic culture and food practices of modern society is investigated. The McDonald’s phenomenon is revealed as a representation of the processes of rationalization, standardization and technologization of culture in the conditions of a post-industrial society. The conclusions substantiate that McDonaldization transforms gastronomic culture in the context of everyday consumption practices, creating new challenges and opportunities in modern socio-cultural contexts.
