Abstract

The article analyzes the childhood and youth of Klymentiy Sheptytsky (Kazimyr Sheptytsky) in the context of the formation of his worldview, educational orientations and prerequisites for choosing a spiritual path. Based on biographical, historical-genetic and systemic approaches, the influence of the family environment, educational practices and religious upbringing on the formation of the personality of the future figure of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church is studied. It is established that the aristocratic traditions of the Sheptytsky family, combined with deep religiosity and a high level of home education, played a decisive role in the formation of his moral and value orientations. It is found that initial education under the guidance of home educators ensured early intellectual development and the formation of linguistic and cultural competencies. It is shown that studying at the St. Anna in Krakow and at the Faculty of Law of the Jagiellonian University, as well as educational experience in Munich and Paris contributed to the integration of Kazimierz Sheptytsky into the European intellectual space and the expansion of his worldview horizons. It is proven that important factors in the formation of his personality were also religious and moral upbringing, the influence of clergy and family environment, in particular the example of his brother - Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky.

It is substantiated that the process of forming the identity of Kazimierz Sheptytsky was complex and multidimensional, combining elements of the Polish cultural environment and Ukrainian church tradition. It is established that the early period of his life became decisive in choosing a spiritual vocation and further activity as a church figure. It is concluded that a comprehensive analysis of childhood and adolescence allows us to understand more deeply the genesis of the worldview of Klymenty Sheptytsky and the origins of his ministry.
