The purpose of this study is to analyze the transformation of personal identity in the conditions of virtual communication and its impact on social alienation. It is studied how information and communication technologies change the self-realization of the individual, transforming the digital space into a platform for self-expression, while contributing to the emergence of new psychological and social challenges. Virtual reality, with its anonymity and the ability to manipulate a personal image, affects the formation of alternative identities that do not always correlate with the user's real "I". Methodologically, an analysis of the literature in the field of social psychology and communication technologies was used, as well as research into the behavior of users of digital platforms. Special attention is paid to the classification of types of virtual personalities and the role of digital communication in changing social priorities and emotional reactions of individuals. The results showed that virtual communication has a dual effect: on the one hand, it contributes to the development of personal qualities through new opportunities for self-expression, on the other hand, it can lead to social alienation and isolation due to the disruption of traditional forms of social interaction. In particular, as a result of the transition to virtual communication, the level of critical thinking decreases, and the tendency to self-identify through idealized images increases, which can lead to psychological dependence and loss of connection with the real world. Considering the numerous varieties of virtual personalities and the plurality of digital identities is becoming an important aspect of the development of social networks and their impact on socialization processes in the modern digital world. Thus, virtual reality not only opens up new opportunities for socialization but also poses new challenges to the individual, particularly in maintaining psychological integrity and the ability to function socially in the real world.
