Postsecular Translations of Religious Meanings in the Formation of Contemporary Ukrainian National Consciousness

Abstract

The relevance of the study is determined by the need to conceptualize the role of religious meanings in shaping contemporary Ukrainian national consciousness under conditions of post-secular transformations and societal challenges. Objective. The aim of the article is to identify the specific features of postsecular transmissions of religious meanings and to determine their influence on identity formation and social consolidation. Methods. The research methodology is based on a combination of theoretical generalization, doctrinal analysis, comparative approach, and interpretative analysis of sociocultural processes. Results. The results of the study provide a systematization of theoretical approaches to understanding postsecularity as a form of interaction between religious and secular discourses. The study demonstrates the multichannel nature of the transmission of religious meanings through institutional, media, and individualized forms. It is established that religious values function as a semantic framework in identity formation. The research substantiates the emergence of hybrid identity models that combine religious, national, and civic components. Furthermore, it is shown that religious values exert both integrative and differentiating effects on processes of social consolidation in Ukraine.The originality of the findings lies in the comprehensive integration of theoretical analysis of postsecularity with the specification of its manifestations in the Ukrainian context, particularly through the examination of the role of religious institutions, volunteer practices, and public discourse under contemporary social challenges. Conclusions. The practical significance of the results lies in the possibility of their use in shaping state cultural and information policy, fostering interfaith dialogue, as well as in further scientific research on issues of identity and social integration.
