The article is devoted to the philosophical understanding of the influence of post-famine syndrome on the modern worldview of Ukrainians with an emphasis on its ethical, ontological and existential aspects. The Holodomor of 1932-1933 is considered as a historical trauma that formed a specific worldview of the nation, which goes beyond the psychological or social consequences and affects the understanding of being, values and meaning of life. The aim is the analysis of the transformation of moral consciousness, the ontological perception of the world and the existential search of meaning under the influence of this syndrome, and also the definition of its role in the formation of the modern Ukrainian identity.
The research is based on the philosophical analysis involving the concepts of ethics (Levinas, Kant), ontology (Heidegger, Arendt) and existentialism (Sartre, Frankl). The method of interpretation of historical and cultural sources has been used, and also the comparative approach to the modern scientific works concerning the Holodomor and its consequences. The article integrates the theoretical provisions with the analysis of empirical data from folk narratives and researches by the Ukrainian authors.
It has been determined that the post-famine syndrome caused an ethical transformation, shifting the values of Ukrainians to solidarity and "ethics of distrust," creating a moral paradox of sacrifice and resistance. Ontologically, it has formed the perception of the world as an unreliable being, where memory and the "the presence of the absent" determine the way of existence. Existentially, the syndrome encourages the search of meaning through solidarity, spirituality and hope, which opens the way to a new identity. These processes testify to the ambivalence of the worldview of the Ukrainians, which combines trauma with creative potential.
Post-famine syndrome is not only aт imprint of the tragedy, but also an active factor in the formation of the modern worldview of еру Ukrainians. It integrates ethical sensitivity, ontological depth, and existential focus on meaning, contributing to an identity based on resilience and freedom. The research emphasizes the necessity of the further understanding of the role of historical memory in the philosophical context for understanding the existence of the Ukrainians in the modern world.
