Abstract

The article is devoted to the study of European integration as a philosophical challenge to national sovereignty. The aim of the article is to philosophically understand European integration as a factor in the transformation of national sovereignty in the context of globalization and military challenges, as well as to determine the specifics of this process in modern Ukraine. Methods. The study uses a number of general and specific scientific methods, including analysis and synthesis, comparative and systemic approaches, as well as elements of philosophical and legal analysis, to synthesize theoretical approaches to understanding sovereignty and European integration. Results. It is shown that in the context of European integration, the classical concept of sovereignty evolves into a model of “joint” or “shared” sovereignty. This model involves the voluntary transfer of certain powers to supranational institutions without prejudice to state independence. The relationship between the national and supranational levels of governance is implemented through multi-level governance mechanisms that combine support for state control with participation in joint regulatory processes. It has been established that the limits of the delegation of sovereign powers are determined by the principles of subsidiarity, proportionality and preservation of the constitutional identity of the state. It has been shown that the transformation of Ukrainian sovereignty in wartime is of a hybrid nature, combining internal consolidation, strengthening of defense capabilities and national identity with active integration into the European political and legal sphere. The reorientation of sovereignty towards humanistic values, strengthening its stability and increasing the importance of international support are highlighted. Conclusion. It has been proven that European integration does not destroy national sovereignty, but on the contrary, contributes to its adaptation to modern realities through a combination of independence and interdependence. The effective development of Ukraine requires a balance between national interests and integration obligations, which contributes to strengthening sovereignty in the face of global challenges and security threats.
