The aim of this study is to analyze mechanisms for countering disinformation as a factor in the transformation of civilizational orientations in the global information space, based on the case of Ukraine under conditions of Russian aggression. The methodological framework includes content analysis of disinformation narratives in digital media, comparative analysis of state and civic initiatives, and a structural-functional approach to assessing the role of institutions in shaping information behavior models.
The results demonstrate that information attacks via social media and digital platforms not only destabilize the information environment but also significantly reshape citizens’ value priorities. It is found that the spread of disinformation creates “parallel realities,” reduces trust in traditional institutions, and simultaneously stimulates the emergence of new behavioral models, including critical thinking, information verification practices, and reliance on credible sources. The study shows that counter-disinformation efforts in Ukraine contribute to the formation of resilient civilizational orientations based on media literacy, social cohesion, and information responsibility.
The scientific novelty lies in identifying the relationship between information threats and the transformation of civilizational orientations through specific mechanisms, including institutional policies, digital communication practices, and media literacy development. The practical significance of the study is reflected in its applicability to improving information security strategies and counter-disinformation policies.
