Abstract

The article provides a comprehensive analysis of biblical symbolism as an integral linguo-philosophical system in the philosophical heritage of H. Skovoroda. The study is conducted within the framework of the contemporary linguo-philosophical approach, which considers language as a universal medium for the constitution of meaning, as well as a form of representation of being, thinking, and human spiritual experience.

In the analysis of H. Skovoroda’s heritage, it has been established that biblical symbolism occupies a central place in his philosophical system, determining both the content and the form of his thinking. It is demonstrated that, in the philosophy of the Ukrainian thinker, the Bible appears not as a historical or dogmatic text, but as a universal symbolic structure representing the deep foundations of being. In this context, it functions as a specific symbolic code containing a multi-level system of meaning.

An important aspect of the study is the analysis of the symbol as an instrument of cognition of truth. The article shows that, in H. Skovoroda’s philosophy, truth cannot be expressed directly but is revealed through symbolic forms. In this context, the symbol performs epistemological, ontological, and hermeneutic functions. It not only reflects reality but also constitutes the very process of cognition.

The article also reveals the hermeneutic nature of the philosopher’s linguo-philosophical system. It is proven that the biblical text appears as an open space of meaning-making, in which meaning is formed in the process of interpretation. This allows us to speak of the polysemantic nature of the text and the active role of the interpreter in the process of cognition.

Thus, the article demonstrates that H. Skovoroda’s philosophy can be interpreted as an original linguo-philosophical concept with significant potential for contemporary humanities research.
