Abstract

The article studies innovative methods of teaching history in Ukrainian higher education institutions, in particular, studying their impact on the development of critical thinking and creative abilities of students. The purpose of the work is to analyze modern innovative approaches to teaching history, their effectiveness in forming basic skills in students and identifying prospects for improving the educational process. To achieve the goal, a number of scientific methods were used, in particular, analysis, synthesis, comparison and generalization of the results obtained. The article found that the use of innovative methods significantly increases the level of interest of students in learning, activates their participation in the educational process, and contributes to better assimilation of the material. It was determined that the use of digital technologies allows creating a more interactive and attractive educational environment that allows students to visualize historical events and immerse themselves more deeply in the educational material. The use of interactive methods allows to significantly increase the level of interaction between students and their teacher and classmates, which creates a positive atmosphere for exchanging ideas and promotes the formation of critical thinking. The implementation of such approaches requires changes in educational programs, as well as active support from the administration of higher education institutions. In addition, it is important to take into account the needs of students in the development of practical skills and their readiness for independent work. The conclusions of the study emphasize the urgent need to integrate innovative methods into the educational process as the main tool for improving the quality of education and developing basic competencies in students. However, to achieve maximum efficiency, it is extremely important to ensure proper training of teachers in the use of modern technologies, as well as overcoming technical difficulties that may arise during their implementation.
