Roman Dyakiv—a personality who gathered soulmates around himself

Abstract

The study of the creative and scientific achievements of the leading scientist, publisher, cultural and public figure Roman Stepanovych Dyakiv consists in the theoretical understanding of the significance of his works for national culture and the systematization and arrangement of data about them, as well as determining the impact of this achievement on the processes that formed the distinctive image of the Ukrainian scientific community of the second half of the 20th —  early 21st centuries, which developed within the paradigm of national traditions. It is the level of originality of individual national traditions that is a significant basis for the search for Ukrainian national identity. Roman Stepanovych's interests covered a wide spectrum of Ukrainian social life —  from the processes of organizing everyday life and the economy to ethical and theological aspects. A brief retrospective review of the materials on which Dyakiv worked testifies to the author's close attention to the origins and formative principles that radically influenced the mentality of the Ukrainian nation. The subject matter of all his publications of a scientific and journalistic nature is aimed at promoting the sustainable development of Ukrainian society in the context of world trends while preserving ethnic identity. In addition, Roman Dyakiv, as an economist by profession, made a significant contribution to the national economy becoming competitive by establishing the International Economic Foundation to promote Ukrainian entrepreneurship, and registering the M. Boychuk Art Charitable Foundation at the Kyiv State Institute of Decorative and Applied Arts and Design. The research materials can have practical use and be used in the development of courses in such academic disciplines as the history of Ukrainian entrepreneurship, trade, ethnography, tourism, and international relations.
