Abstract

The article, using the method of source analysis using a systematic approach and the principle of historicism, examines the scientific achievements in the field of astronomical instrument-making of Vitaliy Nikonovich Ivanov, a representative of the scientific astrophysical school of variable star researchers, corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor V. P. Tsesevich. The purpose of the article is to highlight the scientific and scientific-organizational work of Vitaliy Nikonovich Ivanov and to determine his role in the development and creation of electrical measuring equipment at the Astronomical Observatory of the Odesa State University named after I. I. Mechnikov in the 70s and 80s of the 20th century. The participation of V. N. Ivanov in the development by the Astronomical Observatory of Odesa State University named after I. I. Mechnikov, on behalf of the Astronomical Council of the USSR Academy of Sciences, of an electrophotometer for recording changes in the brightness of artificial satellites of the Earth, electrophotometric methods of observations of artificial satellites of the Earth, and the implementation of these methods are investigated. V. N. Ivanov designed and manufactured single-channel and dual-channel electrophotometers with direct current amplification for observations of artificial Earth satellites, developed a number of automatic digital recorders for electrophotometry of rapidly changing processes, and created a universal digital recorder that could be used with any electrophotometer and electrospectrophotometer. The priority of V. N. Ivanov in the development and application of electrometric amplifiers on field-effect transistors using microelectronic technology for astrophotometry has been established. The scientific and organizational activities of the scientist who, in the late 1970s, headed the astronomical instrument-making department at the observatory, supervised the work on the creation of astrophysical automated spectrophotometric complexes, and made a significant contribution to the development of new telescope control systems are considered. The leading role of V. N. Ivanov in the development of research on the creation of electrical measuring equipment at the Astronomical Observatory of Odesa State University named after I. I. Mechnikov in the 70s-80s of the 20th century is noted.
