Military vocabulary was formed over long historical periods under the influence of cultural traditions, linguistic interactions among different ethnic groups, and social transformations, reflecting both strategic and everyday aspects of military communities’ lives. The relevance of this study lies in the need to examine the specifics of military jargon as a component of Ukraine's socio-cultural and historical development, with an emphasis on analyzing the mechanisms of military term emergence and dissemination, their semantic evolution, and their functioning in the communicative environment. The purpose of the study is to determine the role of cultural and historical factors in the formation and development of Ukrainian military jargon, identify its features, and clarify the sociolinguistic and communicative aspects of the use of specific vocabulary. The research methods included a systematic analysis of historical documents, a corpus study of military vocabulary, a comparative analysis with other linguistic traditions and a semantic analysis of terms. Methods of synthesis and generalization were applied to determine the patterns of evolution of jargon and its relationship with cultural and social processes. The results of the study showed that military jargon is formed under the influence of specific historical events, cultural traditions and practical needs of the community. The key tools for disseminating specific vocabulary are internal communications, written sources, and oral transmission of knowledge within military collectives. It was found that military jargon not only reflects the socio-cultural identity of the military, but also performs the functions of group solidarity, information coding and psychological adaptation in service conditions. The military terms have a high degree of contextual dependence, demonstrating the relationship between language and historical experience. Conclusions. It has been proven that cultural and historical factors play a decisive role in the formation of Ukrainian military jargon, influencing its structure and functioning within the community. The results obtained emphasize the importance of the sociolinguistic approach in the study of military vocabulary and can be used for further research in the field of language history, cultural studies, communication practice of military structures, as well as the study of regional differences in military jargon and its adaptation in modern conditions of international military cooperation.
