Abstract

The article is devoted to understanding communication in the metaverse as a new form of media reality, where journalism and philology combine to create a multimodal perception experience. The paper argues that the rapid development of virtual (VR), augmented (AR), and mixed (MR) reality technologies is shaping a new type of communicative environment – an immersive space in which words, images, sound, and space function as a single system. It is determined that journalists in the metaverse are transforming from information intermediaries to experience curators, and the audience is becoming a co-creator of content, which requires a rethinking of classical models of communication. The scientific novelty of the work lies in the disclosure of communication in the metaverse as a synthetic form of media discourse, combining semiotic, psychological, pedagogical, and technological dimensions. For the first time, a typology of communication models for virtual environments (interactive simulation, controlled narrative) has been systematically proposed, and pedagogical strategies for the formation of competencies of future journalists and philologists in the context of immersive media production have been identified. The research is based on an interdisciplinary approach that combines philosophical-critical, communicative, semiotic, and pedagogical analysis. The semiotic and emotional level of communication in the metaverse is characterized, where language, gestures, colors, sounds, and spatial markers form an integrated perception and multidimensional meanings. Therefore, the results of the study can be used in the training of journalists, philologists, and media professionals to develop skills for working in an immersive communication environment.
