Petro Brytskyi – teacher, scientist, pedagogue and organizer of education

Abstract

The article is about Petro Brytsky, a famous Ukrainian researcher of the history of Ukraine, world history, and international relations. The article reveals the difficult life conditions in which Petro Pavlovich's character and identity were formed, which ultimately led to his choice of the profession of historian, professional science, and teaching. The purpose of the proposed study is to highlight the conditions for the formation of the character and worldview of Petro Brytsky, to reveal the content of his main scientific research, their relevance and significance for historical science.

The research methodology is based on a combination of the principles of historicism, systematicity, objectivity, and impartiality with general scientific (induction and deduction, analysis and synthesis) and special-historical (historical-typological, problem-chronological, historical-comparative) research methods.

 The scientific novelty of the study lies in the fact that an attempt has been made to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the life and creative path of Petro Brytsky, his pedagogical and public activities.

 The research indicates his significant contribution to the formation of historical science, the disclosure of blank spots in history, especially Ukrainian history, his achievements in teaching and the education of young scientists.

He conclusions indicate that Petro Pavlovich Brytsky, from the galaxy of those domestic historians who destroyed the official stamp of the Soviet historical doctrine about the "happiest" communist society, boldly revealed its most terrible, most shameful aspects: ethnocultural genocide, repressions, famines, deportations, passportless collective farm serfdom. After all, he experienced all this in a difficult peasant post-war environment. The life path of every historian is accompanied by successes and thorny paths, creative search, when books are born, scientific discussions, pride in his colleagues, joy for his students. This to some extent characterizes the personality of Petro Pavlovich - an authoritative Ukrainian scientist, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor. His efficiency, perseverance and purposefulness in work were impressive. He was always a welcome guest in the editorial offices of radio and television, where he spoke on topical issues of the historical past and present.
