Logistical and Coordination Role of the Republic of Poland in the International Support System for Ukraine (2022–2025)

Abstract

The article analyzes the logistical and coordination role of the Republic of Poland within the international support system for Ukraine during the full-scale Russian-Ukrainian war in 2022–2025. The aim of the study is to determine Poland’s place in the functioning of international mechanisms of military, humanitarian, and technical assistance to Ukraine, identify the key logistical hubs and coordination mechanisms, and examine the transformation of Poland’s role in the context of a prolonged war and the evolving architecture of allied cooperation. The methodological framework is based on qualitative methods of political and military-political analysis, including the examination of official documents, governmental statements, materials of international organizations, analytical reports, and elements of process tracing. The main focus is placed on the functioning of Poland’s transport and logistics infrastructure, the role of the Rzeszów-Jasionka airport, mechanisms for the transit of international assistance, the training of Ukrainian military personnel, and Poland’s coordination interaction with NATO, the European Union, and Ukraine’s partner states. The study argues that in 2022–2025 Poland transformed into one of the key logistical and coordination centers of international support for Ukraine by combining the functions of a transit hub, a platform for allied interaction, and a regional security integrator. It is demonstrated that Poland’s role extended beyond bilateral assistance and became an important element of the broader European and transatlantic support architecture for Ukraine. At the same time, the effectiveness of this role depended not only on Poland’s geographical position but also on its ability to integrate national infrastructure into a multi-level system of allied coordination. Particular attention is paid to the impact of border crises, domestic political disputes, and economic factors on the sustainability of Poland’s logistical function. The article concludes that Poland remained one of the decisive elements of the international support system for Ukraine, while its role as a logistical and coordination hub became one of the key factors ensuring the continuity of allied assistance during a prolonged war.
