Art Nouveau architecture in the manor construction of Slobozhanshchyna: analysis and preservation

Abstract

Purpose of the article is to analyze how Art Nouveau architecture is represented in the estate construction of Slobozhanshchyna and to propose ways of preserving architectural heritage.

Research methods are based on general scientific approaches. The method of critical analysis was applied to study the literature. The comparative method was used to compare architectural styles of the 18th and 19th centuries. The typological method made it possible to classify objects according to architectural styles.

Results. The article analyzes the use of Art Nouveau architectural forms in estate construction in Slobozhanska Ukraine. The estates in Natalivka, Sharivka, and Trostianets are examined. The current condition of these monuments, the problems of their preservation, and the limitations of state funding are highlighted. The expediency of attracting grant resources, developing museumification, and using digital technologies (3D modeling, digital archives, virtual tours) as effective tools for the preservation and promotion of estate heritage is substantiated.

Conclusions. Art Nouveau architecture in the estate construction of Slobozhanshchyna did not become widespread as a holistic phenomenon; however, its individual manifestations represent an important component of the region’s cultural heritage. Estate complexes are characterized by stylistic syncretism reflecting the historical stages of their formation. In the context of insufficient funding, key directions for heritage preservation include museumification, attracting extra-budgetary resources, and implementing digital technologies, which ensure not only documentation and reconstruction but also broaden opportunities for their promotion.
