Abstract

The relevance of this research is driven by the growing attention to phenomena that mediate interpretations of life success within the context of a post-traditional society - particularly the concept of luck as a sociocultural marker. In mass consciousness, luck appears not only as a random event or fatalistic circumstance but as a deeply symbolized category that constitutes value-based perceptions, influences decision-making mechanisms, and shapes notions of the legitimacy of achievements. Within this context arises the necessity of conceptualizing the categorical status of luck within the framework of social philosophy. The aim of the study is to conduct a socio-philosophical analysis of the phenomenon of luck through the lens of the interplay between chance and regularity, taking into account their influence on individual and collective understandings of success. The research seeks to clarify the essence of luck as a social construct, particularly in terms of its cultural conditioning and ideological instrumentalization in contemporary social space. The methodological foundation of the study combines hermeneutic, axiological, phenomenological, and critical approaches. This enables the identification of deep semantic structures underlying the formation of beliefs about luck. Categorical analysis is also employed to facilitate philosophical reflection on the relationship between contingency and the teleological orientation of the subject in social existence. The research findingssuggest that luck, as a symbolic artifact of culture, functions to integrate the chaotic into the logic of individual self-determination, creating an illusion of order within an unpredictable world. The conclusions underscore the necessity for continued theoretical development of the phenomenon of luck within the context of a philosophy of success, with emphasis on its axiological and anthropological significance. This opens new horizons for exploring the sociocultural mechanisms of meaning-making in late modern society. Future research perspectives lie in the development of an interdisciplinary model for interpreting luck as an integral element of cultural rationality and as a mechanism for legitimizing social outcomes within the shifting structures of postmodern society.
